I completed the 140 hours of required training, passed the New York home inspector licensing exam, and could have gotten the license easily. But I opted not to—strategically. As a licensed inspector, I’d be limited to just spotting issues, without giving the remodeler’s real-world fix costs or creative upgrade ideas that save money long-term.
